The Best Motorcycle Roads in Northwest Sardinia

Five roads between Alghero, Castelsardo and the Gulf of Asinara that make the northwest the most underrated riding region in the Mediterranean.

Hairpin road above a valley in northwest Sardinia

Most riders land in Olbia and turn right towards the Costa Smeralda. That is the mistake we quietly depend on. Turn left instead and within an hour the traffic thins, the tarmac gets better and you have an entire coastline to yourself.

SP 90 — Castelsardo to Trinità d'Agultu

Fast, flowing, and stitched along the cliffs above the Gulf of Asinara. Wide sightlines, third-gear corners, and a sea that changes colour every ten minutes. Early morning is best — the light comes from behind you and the road is empty.

SS 134 — the Coghinas river valley

Our home road. It climbs away from the water through cork oak and vineyards, the same valley the Cannonau in our cellar comes from. Slow it down here; there are tractors, and there are views worth stopping for.

Anglona back roads

Unmarked lanes between Sedini, Bulzi and Perfugas. Rough in places, which is why a Caballero is more fun here than a big tourer. Romanesque churches appear out of nowhere in empty fields.

The Alghero coast road

Capo Caccia at the end of the day is the single best sunset viewpoint on the island. Ninety minutes from our basecamp, a perfect afternoon loop.

Monte Limbara

If you want altitude and hairpins rather than coastline, Limbara delivers both. Granite, pine, and cool air even in August.

All five sit inside a day's ride of our basecamp at Tenute Costadoria. We put them in the roadbook we hand you on arrival.
