When to Ride Sardinia: A Month-by-Month Guide

Sardinia has a riding season most people get wrong. Here is what each month actually feels like on a bike — heat, traffic, light and roads.

April and May — the best-kept secret

Green hills, wildflowers, 20–25 °C and almost no tourists. Perfect riding temperature all day, and the light in May is extraordinary. Sea is still cold; nobody cares on a motorcycle.

June

Long days, warm evenings, roads still calm. Probably the strongest all-round month if you also want to swim.

July and August

Hot — 32 °C and up inland. Ride early, break for a long lunch, ride again after five. The coast road gets busy in the middle of the day, the inland valleys never do.

September and October

Our favourite window. The island empties, the sea is still warm, temperatures settle around 25 °C and the harvest is on at the vineyard — which means the dinners are better too.

Winter

Mild and rideable on the coast, 12–16 °C, occasional rain. Quiet in a way that suits some riders perfectly.

If you want one answer: late September. Warm, empty, and the food is at its peak.
